Below the table you can read a little about the history of the newsletter.
The SideOut Club was formed in 1994 and one of the early orders of business for the Board of Directors was the publication of a newsletter, but it was difficult to find someone in the Club to do the job.
Eventually, Chris Wolf, who was at that time on the Board of Directors and the Club secretary, created a single-sheet two-page issue as a test in February 1995, calling it "The Service Line". It was received enthusiastically, so he volunteered to be the first editor. He did all of the layout and most of the writing for nine years, through the December 2003 issue. In 2004, he turned it over to new volunteers, with Peter Morris taking over the editing/writing duties and Kathy Lovell responsible for layout. Pam Sievers was the next editor, starting in August 2006, with Kathy Lovell continuing to handle the layout. A year later in August 2007, Kathy became the fourth editor, with the layout duties transferred to the volleyball office, handled by new assistant coach Mike Gawlik.
In September 2008, Kathy had to step down from the job and, for the first time, unfortunately no one from the Club came forward to become editor. The volleyball office assumed responsibility, with Mike Gawlik as editor. At that point the newsletter became a publication of the volleyball program rather than a publication by Club volunteers. One link with the Club continued, as Peter Morris has periodically contributed articles to the newsletter since the end of his editorship.
The volume numbering changed several times. After the first year, each volume started with the August issue, coinciding with the school year and a new freshman class for the team, as well as the start of the membership year for the Club. In 2004, Peter Morris changed the numbering to coincide with the calendar year. In 2007, Kathy Lovell changed it back to the school year. This continued until 2017, when it was changed back to the calendar year once more.
